The Naghsh-e Jahan Square( Imam Sq) Built by Shah Abbas I the Great at the beginning of the 16th century, and bordered on all sides by monumental buildings linked by a series of two-story arcades, The Naghsh-e Jahan Sq is one of the most famous Esfahan Tourist Attractions the Imam Sq measures 160 meters wide by 508 meters long (an area of 89,600 m2).

The Nasghsh-e Jahan square is surrounded by buildings from the Safavid era. The Shah Mosque is situated on the south side of this square. On the west side is the Ali Qapu Palace. Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque is situated on the eastern side of this square and at the northern side Qeysariye gate opens into the Isfahan Grand Bazaar.

The Naghsh-e Jahan Sq, was registered as a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Site in 1979.

What to see when visiting Naghsh-e Jahan Square?

The Imam Square in Esfahan, surrounded by four Historic monuments on each sides, There are two magnificent Mosques on southern and eastern side, also, on the western side there is a lofty and multi story Palace called Ali Qapu Place while on the Northern side of the Imam Square there is aportal leading to the Esfahan Grand Bazaar.

The Jameh Abassi or Imam mosque

The Imam Mosque in Isfahan, is one of the most beautiful mosques in the world with it’s richness of blue tileed mosaic and a huge dome and it’s perfectly proportioned Safavid Era architecture.

Sheikh Lotfollah mosque

The Study in harmonious understatement, The Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is the perfect complement to the overwhelming richness of the larger neighbor Imam Mosque and is arguably the most unique mosque in Iran.

Ali Qapu Palace

Built at the very end of the 16th century as a residence for Shah Abbas I, the Majestic six-story Ali Qapu Palace is located at the western side of the Imam Square.

Esfahan Grand Bazaar (Qeysariye Bazaar)

The Esfahan Grand Bazaar link’s Imam Square with the Jameh Mosque, 1.7 K.M northeast, The Esfahanh Grand Bazaar arched passageways are topped by a series of small domes, each with an aperture at it’s apex spilling shafts of light onto the commerce below.
